The Wheel Knows My Name: A Look at the Chaos of Life

The movie "The Wheel Knows My Name," presented by the distributor and producer PIANO, addresses the theme of living in the past and evading the present, delving into the realm of cycles to seek liberation from attachment and suffering. Director Claudio Zilleruelo describes the work as an approach to the internal and external elements that influence the way of living of both the characters and those who experience the everyday life in large cities like Mexico City.

The plot of the movie is based on the wheel of life in Buddhism, which shows a pig, a rooster, and a snake pursuing each other in endless cycles, trying not to devour themselves. The characters in the film are immersed in a web of feelings and afflictions generated by attachments, desires, and the pursuit of the material and mundane.

Zilleruelo emphasizes that beyond the conflict of the couple's relationship, the film seeks for the audience to connect with the emotions and perceptions of others, exploring the feelings we carry and that we must let go of to live without afflictions.

The film has received recognition at international festivals such as the Guanajuato International Film Festival in Mexico and the International Documentary and Short Film Festival in Bilbao, where it was nominated for Best Feature Film Mexico. Claudio Zilleruelo is a self-taught filmmaker with over 18 years of experience, excelling in programming, curating, production, and cultural management in the film industry.

As the founder and artistic director of Transmutación Cine - Contemporary Film Festival, Zilleruelo has participated in both national and international festivals and markets. The filmmaker's debut, "The Wheel Knows My Name," portrays the chaos and time loops that characterize life in Mexico City, focusing on a couple of anonymous characters intertwined in their own everyday life, using imagery, scenes, and light to immerse the viewer in the protagonists' feelings.
